Maintain Your Peace With A Dose Of Self Care

There is often this misconception that prioritizing yourself is a selfish act. The truth is taking care of yourself is not only critical for yourself but also the people that depend on you.We tend to neglect ourselves and that isn’t a good thing. There isn’t anything wrong with having your “me time” because self care is very important and a great way to manage stress.

These are a few of my favorite self soothing practices to maintain peaceful energy.

Fresh linen

Putting fresh sheets on the bed will make you feel nice and cozy. Turn it up a notch and give yourself a pamper day. Have a nice long bath or shower, include a face mask and when you’re done put on your favorite lotion.

Working out is not only good for your physical health, it can also help reduce anxiety and depression. Have a quick workout before you start your day. You may notice a positive change in your energy.

Yes, I said scream. I know it may sound a little crazy but it works. When you’re feeling overwhelmed or frustrated, head outside or find a quiet place to get comfortable and scream as loud as you can. When you’re done, you will feel an instant relief, like a weight has been lifted off of you.

Quiet time

One of the things I love most is quiet time. It allows me to unwind, declutter my mind, and relax. Try to take some time to simply waste time. Take a nap, kick your feet up and read a book, or catch up on your favorite show.

When I really need time to myself, I activate my “do not disturb” feature on my phone or cut the phone off completely and only communicate via my iPad if someone needs to get in touch with me.

Express Your Self

Expressing your thoughts and feelings can be such a relief. This is a great way to help maintain your peace. Repeat a few self love of affirmations to help yourself feel better and counteract those negative feelings. If you rather express yourself through writing, purchase a journal and write down your thoughts.

Fun activity

Life can be a Challenge. (That’s putting it nicely! lol). Do something that makes you happy. Whether its watching tv, taking a long drive, or a sport: paintball. An activity will give you a much needed break and take your mind off of things that bother you.
